Polyester – Medium voltage soft starters were selected for the fiber production plant’s three 6.3 kV–1,784 kW–189.2 A compressor motors.
A total of 3 separate medium voltage soft starters were used for the medium voltage compressor motors in the system. In line with operating conditions, German-made Igel brand soft starters were put into service.
In line with operational requirements, 250 A medium-voltage soft starters at 6.3 kV were selected. Due to the structure of the existing compressor motor, it was started with a current four times the nominal current and was fully commissioned in approximately 17.5 seconds.
The aim is to reduce the inrush current generated in the motor at the moment of initial starting and to prevent electrical and mechanical shocks. Additionally, full motor protection is provided for each motor with a Motor Protection Relay.
